Douglas C. Reynolds has 33 years of private law practice experience, helping clients solve problems in business (profit and non-profit), finance, real estate, employment and personal law matters. His business clients are closely-owned or family-owned, including professional practices, and he has helped clients successfully navigate succession, separations and reorganizations in such businesses. He represents individuals in estate planning, real estate and a wide variety of other legal matters.

In dispute resolution, Doug focuses on engagements to reach resolution-by-agreement – as Settlement Counsel or Collaborative Counsel – to prevent litigation costs and client loss of control of the process and outcome. Doug also serves as a neutral mediator or arbitrator. He has acted as facilitator for conflict resolution and group process, and developed and conducted training programs in Collaborative Law and Restorative Justice. Doug has a special focus on the use of Circle Practice for dispute resolution.

As a consultant, Doug works in organizational development, dispute resolution, prevention of harassment and diversity. He is a senior diversity management consultant with Verna Myers & Associates, LLC, consulting in diversity matters with law firms, law schools and public and private law departments.

Professional Experience

Before founding The New Law Center, Doug was a senior partner at Peabody & Arnold LLP in Boston, MA, where he served as Business Law Department Chair, member of the management committee, and leader of various practice groups and firm projects, including starting the firm's Diversity Initiative and Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") Program. Previously, he was the managing partner at Cope & Wilson, P.C. and a member of the management committee and a practice leader at Bowditch & Dewey, both in Worcester, MA.

Community and Professional Activities

Doug has served on the boards of community and professional organizations, including: Roca, Inc., Chelsea, MA (Volunteer, leading community peacemaking circles), The Massachusetts Bar Association Law Practice Council (Chair, law practice management section), Families First, Parenting Programs, Inc. (Chair, organization dedicated to education and support for parents), Belmont Against Racism, Inc.
