Practice Areas

Catherine Benison practices in the areas of real estate, estate planning and administration, and general legal practice. Kate represents individuals and families in connection with purchases and sales of real property, as well as condominium conversion and in all aspects of estate planning, including wills, trusts and associated documents such as healthcare proxies, living wills and powers of attorney. Kate works closely with clients, to provide them with the most supportive advice and counsel to address their specific needs and concerns.

Professional Experience

Kate began her legal career in 1979, working in the City of Worcester Office of Labor Relations, and then joined the firm of Rickleffs and Uehlein, where her practice encompassed both worker's compensation cases and real estate matters. In 1986, she became associated with the firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., where her practice was focused primarily on residential real estate transactions, representing buyers and sellers, generally involving high value properties.

In January 2006, Kate became Of Counsel to the firm of Gary P. Sanginario, PC where she is engaged in residential real estate practice. She became Of Counsel to The New Law Center in April 2006 where she practices in the areas of real estate, general law and Estate Planning and Administration.

Other Experience

In 1997, Kate took a sabbatical from the practice of law to pursue her abiding interest in cabinet making. She attended the North Bennett Street School and graduated in 1999 from the cabinet and furniture making program. From 1999 until 2004, Kate worked as a custom furniture maker in 17 and 18 th century American period furniture and 20 th century American craftsman furniture. She also served as a project manager of a residential construction project in 2004 and 2005.
